lots of fun things

i had so many fun things to show you today, that i was able to finish this weekend... but you'll have to settle for the photos i took with my phone. lame, i know!

i finally finished that yarn wreath that i wrapped but never embellished. i am beside myself in love with it:

and while i was in crafting mode i also wrapped a cardboard "A" with yarn. but now, of course, i want to change it to a gray yarn. either way i love how it turned out [sorry the photo is sooo small]

and here's my whole entry wall, that i'm finally considering to be "complete"... not finished, because i'll always be changing and rearranging, but just complete. [of course i have big plans to add white beadboard to the wall, and paint the table black... but those are long-term goals. for now, it's complete]

oh, and just in case you're thinking that huge outdated air conditioner thing is such an eye-sore... i know it is! i tried putting the hoop art directly on top of it, but it looked like i was trying too hard to cover it up. so i just went with it. i made it part of the wall collage. i barely notice it now.

also i had to take a photo of my "mother" necklace that i bought for myself over Mother's Day weekend at the Queen Bee Market. it's by Lovely Junque. Michelle is the sweetest person ever, her booth and everything in it was literally dreamy [like, i would live in her booth if i could. it had the most amazing ruffly backdrop i've ever seen] and this necklace was just perfect. our booths were next to each other, so i had the opportunity to stare at it [both the booth and the necklace] all weekend. and then it was the last purchase i made, just as they were closing down the registers. i wear it all the time. and i love that it's two-tone, so it matches with my gold cross and my white gold wedding ring [both of which i wear daily]

there's just something about the word "mother", more than "mom" or "mommy", isn't there? it just seems so responsible, so intentional, so favored by God.

anyway... BY FAR the best thing about my weekend? um, i tweeted this, with a link to the photo below it:

those are all the Beth Moore studies i've done over the years. i just happened to open the cupboard looking for envelopes and all those workbooks caught my eye, lined up neatly there... all Beth Moore studies [except the one to the very right, that's "for women only". also very good, by Shaunti Feldhahn]

and if you've read this blog for very long at all, you can understand my utter delight when i saw this an hour later:

yes! she actually replied to me. i just love her so much. i think anyone who has done any of her studies would say the same, so i'm not alone in my feelings toward her :) anyway, it was a fun surprise! and her little tweet sounded just like something she'd say, with complete sincerity and genuinely obvious love for Jesus, not boasting in herself at all. [remember i've done six of her studies, so i definitely know what she would sound like ;) ]

well, happy tuesday friends! i hope you enjoyed a nice long memorial day weekend! i love that three-day weekends make for a subsequent four-day work week!

  3. The entryway looks amazing! I didn't even notice the air conditioner thing so mission accomplished. Did you jump up and down screaming when you saw Beth Moore's tweet? Cuz I'm pretty sure that's what I would have done.

to wipe away your yelling

one of my favorite things to do in december is to drive around to see the lights. our neighborhood is huge, and we have some seriously awesome houses. one of them is our next-door neighbor, so we don't have to look very far it we don't want to. but at least five or six times in december i would stick the girls in the car and drive around our neighborhood to spot the best-decorated houses. one particular evening, as we were driving, i asked my three-year old if she remembered what was so special about Christmas. "it's when Jesus came to see all my presents!" that's when you know you're doing a good job, right? yeah, so i gently reminded her that Jesus came, in fact, to wipe away our sins. after a thirty second pause, she wondered out loud: "He came to wipe away your yelling?" straight.to.the.heart. "Because when you yell, that's your sin. and when i don't listen to you, that's my sin." yes, right again. i found
