blog sugar

yep! i'll be at blog sugar :) and i'm so glad i decided to buy that ticket!

i wrote this post back in march when i was wondering whether i should come.

allow me to quote the best part for you:
i feel like i would be trying to break into the popular girls' group. like i shouldn't really be there. i mean, no one invited me, so who do i think i am, just showing up? i don't usually put myself out there like that.  i know, i'm laying bear my insecurities for all of you to see. i should just register already, right? and get over myself?
and i think i bought my ticket, like, the next day. it's true though, i still have those insecurities but i'm learning more and more that this blogging community is made up of people just like me. there are shy girls and introverts and gals that don't usually "go for it". they may be quiet in "real life" but God is teaching them and they share it with the world using a platform that's easier to navigate, like a blog. it's a community that wants to encourage and not condemn. they want to build up, not compete. it is a world that many "on the outside" don't understand, but that i'm so blessed to be part of.

i can't wait to meet you all in september. just remember, i am fairly shy, so don't be put off if i don't strike up a conversation with you. i'll be really nice and friendly if you approach me, though. i'm just not usually able to initiate, don't ask me why. maybe i'll practice in the meantime and i'll be really good at it when i see you :)

  1. I'm very shy around women I don't know... so I'll be the one sitting at the table trying not to make eye contact with anyone but pretending I know exactly what I'm doing. When in reality, I have NO idea what I'm doing and I'm shaking in my Converse. See you in September! And it's nice to "meet" you. :)

i think we all fell this way.. shy or not.

i think we have all been so blessed by our blogging community that we know we would be foolish to let our insecurities hold us back from seeing each other for real!

and i'm not shy, so watch out!!

to wipe away your yelling

one of my favorite things to do in december is to drive around to see the lights. our neighborhood is huge, and we have some seriously awesome houses. one of them is our next-door neighbor, so we don't have to look very far it we don't want to. but at least five or six times in december i would stick the girls in the car and drive around our neighborhood to spot the best-decorated houses. one particular evening, as we were driving, i asked my three-year old if she remembered what was so special about Christmas. "it's when Jesus came to see all my presents!" that's when you know you're doing a good job, right? yeah, so i gently reminded her that Jesus came, in fact, to wipe away our sins. after a thirty second pause, she wondered out loud: "He came to wipe away your yelling?" straight.to.the.heart. "Because when you yell, that's your sin. and when i don't listen to you, that's my sin." yes, right again. i found
