instafriday [#3]

well, let's just get right to it!

last friday night my parents took her up to see uncle Greg in costa mesa.
safe to say she enjoyed herself, what do you think?

saturday was my husband's birthday so we headed to our favorite restaurant
with his parents for lunch. if you're local, have you ever been to c-level?
the food is amazing and the view is even better. plus it's right on the water.
it's pretty reasonably priced for such a beautiful experience.

[the view] the san diego skyline

we hosted halloween at our house monday night.
this is the initial, in progress set-up [i didn't get a photo of it completely done, oops!]
but it was nothing fancy. just in our garage.

do you think i have enough orange maternity tops?
i don't own any orange in my regular wardrobe.
comes in handy when you're pregnant on halloween, i guess?

here's what i went with.
a little layering with the black & white stripes made it very festive.
i wear this tank a LOT for layering
more than i will show photos for. it's almost every day actually
give me a break, i'm pregnant.

my mother-in-law baked these little pies-in-a-jar for our party.
inspired by shauna's pies.
there was apple, pumpkin and cherry. mmmm :)

here's our little trick-or-treater, dressed up as Fancy Nancy
[this is a duplicate photo if you read my last post]

and of course here's my snack the next day:
leftover pie, paired with hot cider. totally amazing.

you would think we didn't do much for the rest of the week...
and you might be right. at least i didn't document any of it in photos.
this weekend will be filled with football and more football and more football.
but don't feel sorry for me. just read here :)

oh, and don't forget about the "fall back" time change this weekend!
i love this one, especially when i'm scheduled to sing on praise team at church.
because we have to be there at 7:30am, but this day it feels like 8:30.
feels like i got away with something.

life rearranged

to wipe away your yelling

one of my favorite things to do in december is to drive around to see the lights. our neighborhood is huge, and we have some seriously awesome houses. one of them is our next-door neighbor, so we don't have to look very far it we don't want to. but at least five or six times in december i would stick the girls in the car and drive around our neighborhood to spot the best-decorated houses. one particular evening, as we were driving, i asked my three-year old if she remembered what was so special about Christmas. "it's when Jesus came to see all my presents!" that's when you know you're doing a good job, right? yeah, so i gently reminded her that Jesus came, in fact, to wipe away our sins. after a thirty second pause, she wondered out loud: "He came to wipe away your yelling?" straight.to.the.heart. "Because when you yell, that's your sin. and when i don't listen to you, that's my sin." yes, right again. i found
