hope spoken conference

today i wanted to tell you about something really super special and exciting... just in case you haven't heard of it before today or seen it floating around social media for the last week. it's called Hope Spoken, and it's a conference, for all women, being held in Dallas in March of 2014. this is not a blogging conference, a business conference, a mom conference, or anything else of the sort. it's just plain a place for women to learn and grow and be lifted up in their walk with the Lord. that's my kind of conference, you guys.

there will be times throughout the weekend where we split up into small groups to go through a devotional that parallels what the speakers are sharing, so we can really dive deeper into what the Lord is teaching us... so, the really wonderful and humbling and crazy part? they've asked me to lead a small group. i am so thankful for the opportunity to be a small part of sheperding some ladies' hearts and i hope you'll come and be one of them!

here's a little bit about the conference, straight from the hosts, Danielle, Casey, and Emily:

Hope Spoken is a women's conference where we all can come to know Jesus more, and make Him known in our lives. Our conference will be filled with stories. Stories of Christ in each of our lives, and how we can use these stories for His glory. This is a weekend to rest and feel His love, to lay burdens and hurts down and feel His grace. We want to let women know that they are enough, to encourage women to use their passions, their words, and their creativity for the Lord. We, above all else, want to glorify Jesus' name and share the hope we have in Him.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. // Romans 5:1-5

to wipe away your yelling

one of my favorite things to do in december is to drive around to see the lights. our neighborhood is huge, and we have some seriously awesome houses. one of them is our next-door neighbor, so we don't have to look very far it we don't want to. but at least five or six times in december i would stick the girls in the car and drive around our neighborhood to spot the best-decorated houses. one particular evening, as we were driving, i asked my three-year old if she remembered what was so special about Christmas. "it's when Jesus came to see all my presents!" that's when you know you're doing a good job, right? yeah, so i gently reminded her that Jesus came, in fact, to wipe away our sins. after a thirty second pause, she wondered out loud: "He came to wipe away your yelling?" straight.to.the.heart. "Because when you yell, that's your sin. and when i don't listen to you, that's my sin." yes, right again. i found
